In this issue I would like to share with you an incredible experience on my monk ordination in Bangkok , Thailand . For the monk life, it is extraordinary and amazing as you could probably goes into the real serenity that you would hardly found in Hong Kong . During the time, I was told by the abbot that I owe everything - my well-being, education, life itself, and above all the opportunity to become a monk - to my parents who have raised me since babyhood. Now is my chance to repay that tremendous debt by renouncing all worldly pleasures for a while, so bringing my parents the opportunity to earn merit. This spiritual satisfaction could helps in balancing both the physical and mental conditions of one's mind.
As we know that city life was inundated by umpteen uncertainties and adversities, that's why people are trying hard to throng into varies places and clubs to relax or alleviate their stress and pressures after work. For me, I was luckily to be a monk for nine days in Bangkok during my annual leave in November 2006. I was learned how to be calm, to treasure of the surroundings and understand more about the Buddhist. I was feeling comfortable and calm for the days in the temple, chatting with other monks and instructors, chanting and having a deep thinking on my work, or even some of the philosophic inspirations. There is one simple saying would like to share with you all. In Buddha's words, to avoid all evil, to cultivate good, to purify one's mind. That is the core philosophy of Buddhism
It is a valuable opportunity for me to understand more about the importance of mental health. People are trying to keep their body fit, trying to exercise every week. However, what I am thinking in advance is both the physical and spiritual health. If we could keep happily all the time, to your family, your friends, your colleagues or even your enemies, you could probably be able to live happier as stresses and upsets are stay away from you. I know it is quite challenging because of different constrains. But, try to think it in a different way. Purity and impurity depends on oneself, that is how you treat or interpret the incident or event.
Next time, try to stop and think of what you are currently doing (both your exercises or work), how you are supposed to act (i.e. Is it true?), and seek for appropriate solutions (think of changing your current regime, ask for advices). Then you could finally be more constructive and feeling happier in your future life.
